Programs ยป STATE (Students Taking Action Towards Empowerment)

Students Taking Action Towards EmpowermentStudents Taking Action Towards Empowerment (STATE) was created in 1999 to bridge the gap in understanding between young people, and the police. STATE has since grown into a comprehensive youth leadership development program whose goal is preventing youth incarceration and negative interactions with the criminal justice system.

To achieve its goals, the program trains participants in legal rights, conflict resolution, video production, and community advocacy. STATE programming includes Know Your Rights and Conflicts with Cops curricula, After-School and Summer Leadership Projects, an Executive Internship Project, and a Youth Board.
